Performance Management Learning Community

• 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizations, publicly supported organizations such as schools and municipalities, and organizations using a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor
• Organizations serving residents of Onondaga or Madison counties
• Recipients of Community Grants within the past 12 months are still eligible to apply.
• Must agree to up to four organizational representatives (potentially including but not limited to grant writer, program staff and manager) at all learning community sessions.
• Must agree to collecting data from at least 100 constituents (by midway evaluation) using the Life Needs Assessment Survey

• Build capacity to demonstrate both outcomes (i.e. measureable impact on community needs) and outputs (i.e. number of people served)
• Address an identifiable community need (preference to literacy, lead poisoning prevention or poverty programs)
• Use a logical approach, emphasize assessment and have long-term sustainability
• Create a new, or improve a current, process for data collection
• May involve one organization or a collaboration between multiple organizations
• Can involve hiring and working with consultants or external evaluators

• Performance Management’s annual grant application deadline typically falls in mid-July each year.

• Intermediate level grant requests should not exceed $20,000 for first-time applicants.
• Potential applicants are encouraged to attend an information session, which are typically held in May or June of each year, before applying. All staff who will be Learning Community participants are encouraged to attend in addition to the grantwriter.

• For learning the concepts of gathering and utilizing data
• Four-month course that typically runs from February through May
• Typically includes one Learning Community Session per month

• Allows participants to share their project implementation experiences with each other and eventually with the wider Central New York Region
• Yearlong course with intensive Learning Community Sessions in the months of January and June

• Participants collaborate, share and develop a project to implement within the Central New York region
• Four-month course that typically runs from January through April
• Typically includes one to two Learning Community Sessions per month

The Life Needs Assessment is a collaborative effort to assess and respond to the needs of our clients. Our partner organizations, including all Performance Management Learning Community participants, continue to collect and evaluate responses to the survey to develop a more robust picture of each neighborhood’s distinctive characteristics and needs.

All Performance Management grantees are expected to collect data from the clients of their proposed programs using the needs assessment survey and share de-identified data at the census tract level with other members of their learning community.
